Swift’s Freedom boats (1x and 2x/-) are built using FISA’s design for adaptive boats. They are available in 2 grades of construction, either Club A or Club B, both of which are sandwich construction, so providing stiffness and durability, which is especially important in these flat bottomed boats, while keeping the weight manageable.
These boats have many uses, not only as adaptive. They are useful for introducing beginners to rowing, as recreational boats, for touring, and as an alternative to always training in a fine racing shell, especially in rougher conditions, or for heavier loading and less concern with balance (floating ergometer!)
They are stable due to their flat bottoms, they track well due to their length, and also have a good turn of speed. The single was even used in 2007 in the Czech junior championships by a novice rower, and helped her get a 3rd place finish!

Only wing riggers are available. Aluminium is standard, and it is possible to upgrade to carbon. Backstays will only be supplied with sweep riggers.
There are 6 sets of holes to attach the wing rigger to the boat.
The holes in the seat deck for attaching rails will be the same for adaptive and recreational, so it is easy to change the rails.

The recreational version of the freedom 1x and 2x comes with normal seat rails and single action carbon seats.
Floats are not supplied as standard, and need to be ordered seperately.
The riggers should be attached using the 2nd set of holes closest to the stern, with the holes either side of this set available for adjusting the trim.
The adaptive version of the freedom 1x and 2x comes with adaptive seat rails and adaptive seats.
Please note that no straps are supplied as standard, and must be ordered separately.
The 1x comes with pontoons as standard. The 2x does not come with pontoons as standard, so if needed, they need to be ordered seperately.

The position of the seat is adjustable fore and aft, and the back of the seat is adjustable for height and angle.
The 6 sets of holes to attach the wing rigger to the boat are there to allow the line of work (pin position) to be closer to the bow, which for rowers with arms only (1x) and arms and trunk only (2x), means they will be able to get a much better catch angle with the oar, and should lead to faster boat speed.
We are keen to make our boats the 1st choice for adaptive rowers who want boat speed, as well as being the best value and most robust.
If you have any suggestions about how else we can do this, please let us know. One other area that has potential, is to reduce the span and oar length, so that a longer (and more efficient) rowing arc can be achieved.

FISA’s Regulation, Rule 32: Boat Weights
In addition to the requirements of Rule 32, the minimum weights for Adaptive boats shall include pontoons where used. The minimum weights of Adaptive boats are: 1x 22kg, 2x 36kg
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These boats will be the adaptive boats with additional ordinary seat rails and single action carbon seats.
The holes in the seat deck for attaching rails will be the same for adaptive and recreational, so it is easy to change the rails.
